  • Author of "I Am My Own Dragon" speaks with Jenn and Steve  because we all have the power to make anything we want to happen occur. Every one of us has within ourselves the dragon’s strength. The dragon’s wisdom. The dragon’s fire. Even the dragon’s ability to soar.

You have a dragon that burns deep inside, because we all have the power to make anything we want to happen occur. Every one of us has within ourselves the dragon’s strength. The dragon’s wisdom. The dragon’s fire. Even the dragon’s ability to soar.

We just don’t always know it. And sometimes, we have to overcome tremendous odds and challenges to figure it out.

Let “I Am My Own Dragon” help you find the dragon inside of you.

Lucy March is a living tragedy.

Abandoned by her father, sexually abused as a toddler and devastated by the death of a lover, Lucy’s life is focused on forgetting through alcohol, drugs and losing herself in others.

When she is violently raped by the man she once thought she’d spend her life with, she becomes depressed, despondent and almost willing to give up—until she meets therapist Johanna, and undergoes a transformation that ends up changing both women’s lives.

Written as a conversation between the reader and main character Lucy March, “I Am My Own Dragon” asks, among other things, to examine the “roadblocks” that may be holding us back from living the fabulous life we were born to live.

It questions whether we are truly living our lives or merely going through the motions, teaching us—through Lucy’s story—how to heal ourselves through reflection and self-discovery; how to overcome adversity and live a remarkable life.

Like the dragon on the cover, Lucy's inspiring story of adversity and redemption teaches us not just how to find the dragon—the power—within ourselves, but how to use that dragon to replace loneliness, sadness and anguish with joy, happiness and fulfillment.

What if we all lived our lives as if anything was possible? … As if everything was possible?

It’s one of the lessons Linda Thompson, 54, learned in her own life and shares in “I Am My Own Dragon”—a book she wrote to help people experience the same transformations that led to her becoming the happy, successful individual she is today.

An internationally recognized writer, actor, singer, consultant, and business person, Linda is the owner of a successful consulting firm – Tri I, LCC -- that specializes in leadership development, team alignment and executive coaching.

With a BA in American Studies, MA in Creative Writing and MBA in Organizational Behavior and Finance, she has held several executive positions in both Fortune 500 and Fortune 50 companies and is included in the 2,000 Most Notable American Women; listed in a variety of Who’s Who Publications; and is a well-known motivational speaker.

Like the protagonist in “Dragon,” Linda grew up in Beaumont, Texas where she is well known for her scholastics achievements, dramatic awards, performances in local theater, and literary prizes. She now lives in Houston, Texas, with her mixed cocker spaniel, Crystal, and is at work on her next three books.
